Case of Skanör

During the summer, EL o DATA Installatören installed the Citygrid lighting control system in luminaires from Ateljé Lyktan in Skanör, an area with heavy traffic during the summer months but much quieter in the winter. The municipality had long wanted to optimize the street lighting to create the best possible conditions for traffic, while also minimizing any disturbance to the residents.

– The installation process went very smoothly, everything flowed without any issues, says Joakim Lewin, project leader at El o Data Installatören.

The installation was successfully completed with the help of phone support from Ateljé Lyktan.

– We only needed help setting up a profile, then we sorted out the rest ourselves using the manual. The app also proved easy to use for programming the system, Joakim explains.

For the municipality, investing in a lighting control system was an obvious choice since they wanted to reduce energy consumption and remotely monitor and control their luminaires.

– These kinds of luminaires are really powerful, so the energy consumption is high if you don’t dim them down at night, he continues.

With Citygrid, this can be managed easily and automatically, contributing to both energy savings and improved lighting control. The municipality and the installer also worked actively to inform residents before the installation, and so far, the response has been positive.

– We haven’t received any feedback from the residents, and we take that as a good sign. We will see if more comments come in as the darker months approach, he says.

The installer also highlights that one advantage of Citygrid is how easily the system can be integrated directly into the fixtures, making the installation more aesthetically pleasing.
