The Fagerhult story begins at Christmas in 1943, when our founder Bertil Svensson made a lamp for his mother. Today, Fagerhult has developed to become a leading European brand offering solutions for most lighting applications.

Our oldest brand, started by Hans and Verna Bergström in 1934, in Skåne, a region in southern Sweden. Ever since, ateljé Lyktan has supplied partners and customers with luminaries for both outdoor and indoor use, always with Nordic design in mind.

Founded in 1945 by Tom Freer, Whitecroft Lighting has become one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of commercial lighting. Focused on tailored solutions for office, education and healthcare applications.

Eagle Lighting was established in Melbourne, Australia, in 1972, and has developed into a leading brand present throughout Australasia. They develop innovative indoor lighting solutions and are leaders in adopting new smart lighting control.

Founded in 1985 by the twin brothers Wilfried and Walter Schlegel in Ravensburg, Germany. With a strong base in the German market, LTS today offers lighting solutions for indoor solutions focusing on office, retail and hospitality applications.

Designplan was established in the UK in 1963 by Arthur Cumper and his business partner John Barber. Their aim was – and still is – to design robust luminaries for challenging environments with high-ingress protection and great resistance.

I-Valo started within the famous Iittala glass factory in Iittala, Finland. In 1963, the company was launched as a separate brand and has ever since been considered the best partner for luminaries designed and tested for heavy industry with extreme conditions.

Arlight was founded in Ankara in 1991 by Cemil Arli. Always focused on quality and product development tailored to local market needs, they have become a leading lighting company for indoor applications in the region.

Founded in 2006, LED Linear started when the LED revolution began. Continuously innovating, they take full advantage of LED technology and offer high-quality linear lighting solutions. Fully customizable, always providing the right solution for every project.

Founded in Bispingen, northern Germany in 1950 by Wolfgang Fritzsche, WE-EF has since developed from a small family-owned company into a leading global manufacturer of high-performance outdoor luminaries.

Organic Response was established in 2017 following the acquisition of Organic Response's revolutionary light control technology for indoor lighting.

Founded in 1975, Dutch Veko Lightsystems specialize in linear LED lighting for industrial spaces. Always highly innovative, they were the first in the world to introduce linear lighting and cable ducts in one lighting system.

Started in 1959, iGuzzini has grown from a small company in Recanati to become a world-renowned, leading brand for architectural lighting. True to their heritage they continue to develop innovative lighting solutions with a strong-rooted desire for design.

Fagerhult group and sustainability

Energy-efficiency is high on the agenda to reach the climate goals and the lighting industry has a part to play. Lighting accounts for up to 15 per cent of global energy consumption and by using the latest smart lighting solutions, we can potentially reduce energy consumption by up to 90 per cent.

With our footprint, we know that on average 88 per cent of the lifetime greenhouse gas emissions of our luminaires comes from the use phase. That is why we put a lot of effort in contributing with new technology and knowledge to help our customers optimise the use ot the use of the luminaires. We also are a group with essential knowledge when it comes to production. We are constantly developing our products to minimise resource consumption and waste as well as using recycled or renewable material.

Activities to achieve our net-zero targets by 2030

Use phase

  • Develop and increase the adoption of smart lighting.
  • Encourage use of high efficiency luminaires.

Operations (energy) & logistics

  • Reduce footprint from transportation through optimized logistics and low-carbon transports.
  • Become more energy efficient and transition to low-carbon energy in production.
  • Reduce waste in production.

Materials & components

  • Develop products with less material, i.e. light-weighting. Increase share of recycled materials, e.g. aluminium, steel and plastic.
  • Use low carbon electricity aluminium. Reduce number and size of electronic components

Activities to reach our net-zero targets to 2045

Use phase

  • Adoption of 100% smart lighting.

Operations (energy) & logistics

  • Use only renewable energy in production.

Materials & components

  • Continue increasing share of recycled materials.
  • Shift to low-carbon electronics.
  • Reduce footprint even more from materials through reducing low-CO2 steel, bioplastics, ultralow-CO2 aluminum, and reducing casings.

Priorities

The near and long-term goals of our sustainability initiatives are:

  • to reduce direct and indirect GHG emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 70 per cent by 2030, compared with 2021;
  • to reduce other direct and indirect GHG emissions (Scope 3) by more than 30 per cent by 2030, compared with 2021; and
  • to achieve net-zero GHG emissions for the Fagerhult Group by 2045.

The Group continuously sets new goals and develops existing goals by breaking them down into local activities and initiatives. This is important for keeping our sustainability efforts relevant.

Smart Lighting

Lighting accounts for up to 15 per cent of global energy consumption and by using the latest smart lighting solutions, we can potentially reduce energy consumption by up to 90 per cent. Smart lighting is therefore an important part of our current and future offering. This means we can reduce both the environmental impact of our solutions and the cost for our customers. In addition, connected solutions create new business opportunities and are gaining significant interest from the market. Sensor data gathering and integration into larger systems open up new partnerships that can generate new business for us, but more importantly, more value for our customers.

Organic Response

Organic Response is a sister company to Seneco and part of the Fagerhult Group. Organic Response was established in 2017 following the acquisition of Organic Response's revolutionary light control technology for indoor lighting. The business serves the Fagerhult Group's global network of companies and combines world-class research and development in IoT solutions, intimate customer knowledge and global reach to deliver tomorrow's integrated smart lighting solutions today.
